During a time when connection and community were ever-more important, Oxy alumni and parents found creative ways to stay engaged with their College. Alumni and parent leaders played a key role in welcoming President Elam to Oxy, and helped inform his understanding of our history, values and culture.  Thousands of alumni and parents gathered virtually for traditional Oxy events, such as Homecoming and Reunion, as well as new events such as President Elam’s virtual “regional” tour in December. Our year culminated with the long-awaited commencement celebrations for the classes of 2020 and 2021. We are excited to invite these new alumni classes, and all alumni and parents, back to campus soon.

The Impact of the Alumni and Parent Community

Continued engagement in the Oxy community allows for meaningful interactions between alumni, parents, students, faculty and staff.

Oxy Affinity Organizations

Generations of Oxy alumni have remained engaged through alumni affinity groups, such as the Occidental College Latino Alumni Association (OCLAA), the Black Alumni Organization (BAO) and the Asian-Pacific Islander group (API).  Many other long-standing alumni groups continue to be active too, such as Alumni of Occidental in Education (ALOED), as well as new groups, like the LGBTQIA+ group.

Celebrating the Classes of 2020 and 2021

The Oxy community was thrilled to bring the Classes of 2020 and 2021 back to campus for their long-awaited in-person commencement ceremonies. We were honored to see 631 students and their families on Patterson Field for the joyous celebrations.

Meeting President Harry Elam, Jr.

Hundreds of alumni and parents from around the country were able to virtually meet President Harry Elam, Jr. in a series of Virtual Conversations which also featured volunteer leaders, and our outstanding students and faculty.

Thank you to our Volunteers

The Oxy community remains strong because of the alumni and parent volunteers who serve as leaders, connectors and friends. We are grateful to all of those who generously give their time and energy to Oxy.
